let the elving commence!

Yes, it has started! Green and red pipe cleaners, jingle bells, scissors, gluesticks, sewing supplies and oh yes, glitter---lots of glitter!

The season of "making" has officially kicked into high gear.  After a very overwhelming, but satisfying Thanksgiving with family, I have decided this Christmas season will be taken slow. Being mindful about the reason we celebrate and intentional about what we choose to do and not to do will hopefully help us keep the focus where it needs to be.

But, the glitter.....oh my, why do little girls love glitter so?

We have lots of making on the agenda. Taking time to consider the person our handmade will go to. Blessing people, that's what we intend to do this season.

How 'bout you, whatchamakin'?

  1. It's so much fun to make things for others at Christmas! My husband is making a table for our sons to use for their Thomas trains, and a bookshelf for our daughter, which I intend to paint and stencil. I'm also making a quilt for our younger son. I would like to make some quilted potholders for my mom and sisters too, but I don't know if I'll have time for all of that!

  2. Hello Laura Jeanne,
    Each year I run out of time with my making:-) What wonderful gifts your husband and you are making, treasures that can be handed through generations--the best kind!

  3. My son loves glitter too (he's 6). We use glitter glue by Crayola. He loaded up the feathers on his Thanksgiving headdress with the sparkly stuff. :-) I'm working on a crocheted afghan done in fisherman style for my sister for Christmas. I love this time of year, but I agree, it can easily get too busy with hustle and bustle if you let it.

  4. I will knit two woolen caps for my sons this year! I got their big gifts already. Then, I'll add some pistachio/cranberry biscotti, which they love!

  5. I'm making hats and mittens! I also made a fruitcake today. It is cooling on the counter as I type. It's my first.....we'll see in a few weeks...

    Happy making!

  6. What a sweet craft! I should put something similar on my refrigerator that will warn me not to eat too many goodies!
